Intro to West African Rhythms
This week we will learn two traditional West African rhythms Koo Koo and Lamban.
Student Assignment: 1. Find three home found objects to mimic the sounds of traditional the West African Djembe, Jun Jun and bell.
2. Copy each rhythm and repeat as demonstrated in the video.
Extra Credit: Make up your own word phrases for memorizing rhythm pattern.

Favorite Song or Album Interview
Student Assignment: Interview a family member about their favorite song. Ask them why they like a particular style. Ask if they have a story about a song that they would like to share.
Ostinato Beat Rhythm
Ostinato is Italian for a repeating pattern in music. In this video, we looked at several ostinatos discussed beat, rhythm and combine them while singing the nursery rhyme "Pease Porridge Hot".

1. Make up your own ostinato using a traditional instrument or found objects in your house.
2. Sing a simple song while playing your ostinato.
